In January 2012, Castrission and his companion completed what no one had achieved before – an unsupported, round-trip journey from the edge of the Antarctic continent to the South Pole. This was the longest unsupported polar journey of all time. Following in the footsteps of great polar explorers, like Scott, Amundsen, Shackleton, and Mawson, they battled frostbite, physical and mental breakdown, starvation, blizzards and crevasse falls. After 89 grueling days of man-hauling they made it back.
