Seaver had access to Edward Wilson’s letters and journals to create this prominent biography of Wilson, who was highly regarded as zoologist, doctor, and artist on his journeys as a member of Robert Scott’s British National Antarctic Expedition (1901-04) and British Antarctic Expedition (1910-13). This is the first of Seaver’s five books on Wilson, Birdie Bowers, and Robert Scott. This impression includes the additional memoir chapter by Wilson’s wife, Oriana.
