Seventy-five years following George Mallory’s disappearance on Mt. Everest, heading for the top, Conrad Anker discovered Mallory’s body lying face down in the scree at 27,000 feet. Seventeen days later Anker free-climbed the notorious Second Step. Jochen Hemmleb, via his investigative work, was the impetus for the trip which was led by Eric Simonson.
