Minik was an Eskimo from north-western Greenland who was taken by Robert Peary to New York in 1897. During his twelve years in America, his adoptive family went from riches to rags, and Minik's own life was shattered with the trauma of discovering his father's skeleton on display in the American Museum of Natural History. An amazing, and tragic, story.
