This is one of Brad Washburn's signature images, despite his association with the Alaska Range. In 1960, he was circling around the peak in an airplane when suddenly this group of six climbers appeared making their way up a snowy ridge. This fantastic photograph is the result and is one of Brad's most requested images.

Brad Washburn was one of the leading mountain photographers in the world. In 1927, he began exploring the world of aerial photography, turning his camera on Mont Blanc, while on a family trip to the Alps. An accomplished mountaineer, scientist, author, and explorer as well, his work sets a standard against which all other mountain photographers are measured. Although Washburn had strictly documentary and scientific intentions for his photography, he captured a considerable artistic component of his subjects. Washburn's photographs contain all the imagery and symbolism associated with mountains, alongside the realism and factual renderings expected of a scientist, combined in a collection of images that define the state of the art. His work has a visual impact that holds a viewer's attention as no other mountain photographer's work can do.
