A lovely, profusely-illustrated, large-format book published by the Italian Alpine Club to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the first ascent of K2. Beginning with the early work and explorations of Godwin-Austen, Conway, Crowley, and the Duke of the Abruzii, the book includes the three American expeditions of 1938, 1939, and 1953, and then focuses on the Italian expedition of 1954. The latter half of the book covers expeditions in the last 50 years. In addition to the expected classic images are many unknown photographs, the result of meticulous research work. This book weighs 4.5 pounds. In Italian, no English translation.
