The 1964 Scottish Andean Expedition was to map unexplored country towards the eastern border of Peru and, while surveying, to climb as many virgin peaks as possible. Two fine peaks fell to the expedition, together with four lesser ones, and the party made valiant attempts to scale three further major peaks, including the unscaled east face of Yerupaja, Peru's second highest mountain.
