Blum’s memoir covers her early life and traces her evolution as a climber. She led the first teams of women to climb both McKinley and Annapurna, and was the first American woman to attempt Everest. Her expeditions included Adams (1964), Hood, Popocatepetl (1965), Yanapaccha Norte, Nevado Pisco, Chopiqualqui (1967), Waddington (1969), Denali (1970), Africa (1971), Iran, Kashmir, Noshaq (1972), Peak Lenin (1974), Trisul (1975), Everest (1976), Annapurna (1978), Bhrigupanth (1980), and the Himalayan Traverse (1981-82).
