Blizzard: Race to the South Pole

This book was produced in conjunction with a BBC series which pitted Norwegian Rune Gjeldnes, playing Amundsen, and his team against Britain Bruce Parry, playing Scott, and his team in a recreation of the race to pole. Wearing the same type of clothing as their predecessors, surviving on the same diet, using the same equipment and traveling the same distance, they sought to answer some of the questions surrounding the quest to be the first to reach the South Pole. Given the expense and difficulties of conducting this in the Antarctic the recreation was held on the Greenland icecap. An interesting book with diary excerpts.
