Harris’ son Christopher started climbing at age eight and they decided to become the first father-son team to climb the Seven Summits. The succeeded on Kosciuszko (1999), Kilimanjaro (2003), Aconcagua (2004 attempt, 2006), Elbrus (2004), and McKinley (2005 attempt). In 2006 they turned their sights on Everest as part of a small four-person team, with Lincoln Hall, as part of a larger 30-person permit led by Alex Abramov and Harry Kikstra. Also on this permit was Thomas Weber, who was to die on the mountain. The 2006 season was tumultuous with several deaths and questionable ethics. This book includes additional details on the efforts to get Lincoln to descend following his summit. See also Lincoln Hall’s book ‘Dead Lucky’.
