Wills was a founding member of the Alpine Club and its President from 1864-5. This describes his ascent of the Wetterhorn which is considered the beginning of the Golden Age of mountaineering. Neate W94.
King, Benjamin E (Tom) (1929 – 1985) – AAC member who wrote ‘In the Shadow of Giants: Mountain Ascents, Past and Present’ (1981), relating his climbs on Mont Blanc, Matterhorn, Jungfrau, Monch, Eiger, Everest, Fuji, and the Sierra. King was killed in a fall two weeks prior to embarking on an expedition to China.
