K2: Life and Death on the World's Most Dangerous Mountain

Viesturs and Roberts have collaborated once again to produce a fine book on K2. Their focus is on seven of the mountain’s most dramatic campaigns – the early attempts of 1938, 1939, and 1953, the first ascent in 1954, the tragic summer of 1986, Viesturs own ascent in 1992, and the disaster of 2008. Each account is interwoven with behind-the-scenes details to make this a most enjoyable read. This is one of ten books which covered the 2008 events on K2. This was a finalist at the 2009 Banff Mountain Book Festival.
