A beautiful copy, the nicest I’ve seen, of the official narrative of the Shackleton-Rowett Antarctic Expedition (1921-22). Wild was the captain of the Quest and the Second-in-Command until Shackleton’s early death, upon which Wild assumed overall command. His book contains extracts from the diaries of Shackleton, Alexander Macklin, and James Marr. Also included is a chapter on Wild’s Elephant Island experiences from the Endurance expedition of 1914-17 and Leonard Hussey’s account of the disposition of Shackleton’s remains. This third printing was published six months after the first printing and is identical.
