Robert Scott's amazing diary of the ill-fated British Antarctic Expedition (1910-13) in which he perished along with Edward Wilson, Henry Bowers, Lawrence Oates and Edgar Evans after reaching the South Pole behind Roald Amundsen. Scott's diary has been constantly in print since first publication in 1913 and has sold almost 250,000 copies. However, the original illustrations that accompanied the first edition have long since disappeared from the cheap paperback editions currently available. This new edition reunites for the first time in 100 years the diary with the stunning original photographs of Antarctic and the men of the expedition by Herbert Ponting together with a selection of Wilson’s wonderful watercolors. Also included are Scott’s farewell letters and E. L. Atkinson’s chapter on the finding of Scott and his companions in their tent.
