Hinkes has produced a beautiful book to document his 11 year quest to climb all 14 8000m peaks. He finished with Kangchenjunga in 2005 to become the 15th person, and the first Briton, to complete this challenge; although his attainment of the true summit of Cho Oyu in a whiteout is in dispute. Separate chapters cover each of the 14 peaks with color photos and narrative describing his climbs with some of the world’s other great mountaineers. This is a wonderful addition to the 8000m peak literature. With a foreward by Brian Blessed. This book weighs 3.3 pounds.
