A wonderfully illustrated catalog of an exhibition at the Linda Hall Library in 2008. The exhibition featured 55 books from the History of Science Collection, illustrating the many British voyages that set out between 1818 and 1860 to discover a Northwest Passage through the Arctic. Also included are narratives of several attempts to discover Antarctica, as well as books documenting the proposal, and eventual acceptance, of the idea of the Ice Age. Although the 55 books themselves are not depicted they are arranged chronologically with numerous illustrations selected from each.
