Heilprin was was a member of Robert Peary’s Greenland expedition of 1891-92, leading the Western Expedition component. The following year he led the Peary Relief Expedition (1891-92). He was also the first president of the Geographical Society of Philadelphia and a founding member of the American Alpine Club. Here he provides a summary of previous attempts to reach North Pole, details of the Spitsbergen Route, and his account of the Relief Expedition.
