Shackleton’s British Antarctic Expedition (1907-09) achieved many firsts - a new furthest south (88º 23’), first to the South Magnetic Pole, and the first ascent of Mount Erebus. One of three books produced by the expedition, the others being Antarctic Days and Aurora Australis. This is a reissue of the abridged 1910 edition, although without the color plates. The bulk of the original expedition narrative has been retained.
