Walter Bonatti (1930-2011) was one of the world’s great mountaineers, as well as an explorer and journalist. In his brief, 17 year, climbing career he was noted for bold solo ascents and well as his association with the Italian first ascent of K2 in 1954. Following his retirement from the vertical world in 1965, Bonatti turned his attention to the horizontal world. In this book he focuses on wild animals he encountered while expeditioning in the Klondike to explore the Yukon and Porcupine Rivers (2500km solo canoe, 1965), Unimak Island, Alaska (1965), Uganda and Tanzania (1966), Indonesia (1968), Great Barrier Reef (1969), and Zaire (1972). In Italian, no English translation.
