Mountain Views: A Lifetime’s Enjoyment

A personal account of 38 years of walking, climbing, mountaineering and ski-mountaineering in Britain, the Alps and farther afield – Libya, Nepal, Australia, Greenland, Pyrenees, Spain, Corsica, Norway, Karakoram, Malaysia, Indonesia, Japan, New Zealand, Spain, Iran, and Greece. Hoare enjoyed photography since his first mountain on the Isle of Jura and his book is richly illustrated with over 150 colour photographs.

Born in 1956 and educated at Winchester College and Exeter University, Hoare spent his career in oil exploration. A former president of the London Mountaineering Club and the Alpine Ski Club, he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in January 2011. He began writing this book a month later and it was published just before his untimely death in September 2011.
