David Davis (1896-1964) was a Lt. Commander in the Navy and a lifelong student of Antarctic exploration. Following Davis’ death his Polar Library was donated to the Standford Research Institute and the creation of this catalog was commissioned by Dr. Thomas Poulter. Poulter was second in command of Admiral Byrd’s second Antarctic expedition 1933-35. While not a thorough bibliography, this is an interesting addition to a reference library. A number of Davis’ books were inscribed to him which are described here. Following the publication of this Catalog the collection was donated to the US National Archives. Uncommon.
