Captain Morton Henry Moyes OBE (1886-1981) was a teacher, naval officer, and Antarctic explorer of the heroic age. Winner of three polar medals, Moyes took part in the Australasian Antarctic Expedition 1911-1914 under Dr. Douglas Mawson, the Shackleton Relief Expedition 1916-17 under Captain John King Davis, and the British, Australian, and New Zealand Antarctic Research Expedition (BANZARE) 1929-30 again under Dr. Mawson. A man of many talents, Moyes was high and broad jump champion of South Australia, 1906-08, and represented Queensland in the Australian Athletic Championship s 1909. His Antarctic recollections, recounted in his own words, in a wry and readable style, reveal a man of courage, of humility, of humour, and of determination; an intensely loyal man who never lost his fascination for living and working on the vast Antarctic continent. The first printing was in 2014, 100 copies, and this printing is assumed to be the same. It is identical to the first printing.
