Leonard Hussey (1891-1964) served with Sir Ernest Shackleton on the Imperial Trans-Antarctic Expedition (1914-17), in the Endurance, and the Shackleton-Rowett Antarctic Expedition (1921-22), in the Quest. The bulk of Hussey’s account deals with his experiences on the Endurance expedition. He provides the only firsthand account, other than Frank Hurley’s, of the trying months spent on Elephant Island. The remainder of the book covers the Quest expedition and the death of Shackleton. Included is a photocopy of the rare jacket. Very scarce.
