Dhaulagiri

In 2008, Vitry and his small, four-person, Argentinian team intended to climb Shishapangma but were prevented from doing so by the Chinese. They then turned their sights on Dhaulagiri. The summit was in reach, with all four in a two-man tent, when Vitry and one other headed up while two headed down. Vitry reached the summit, although his partner did not, and barely made it down to base camp with the help of another team. His partner disappeared while making a second attempt on the summit.
